Many people around the United States think that happiness and success are heavily correlated. They think that you have to be the happiest person ever to be the most successful, or they think if you are really successful then you are the happiest ever.

Megan Tull believes that so many people don't recognize the difference between happiness and success. In Megan Tull's article The Difference Between Success and Happiness on the Pop Expert website, she states that, "Understanding the difference between being successful and being happy is vital". She then goes on to say that success is great, but not if it costs you your happiness. If you're meeting your goals and overcoming challenges with a light and free heart, then you're doing life right. She then goes on and lists 10 keys ideas that will change the way you understand the difference between success and happiness. They are success is meeting deadlines and happiness is working towards your goals, success is working your way to the top of your field and happiness is flowing in your purpose and gifts, success is focusing on accumulating wealth and happiness is focusing on improving your life, success is being promoted above your peers and happiness is being respected by your peers, success is lying awake at night worrying and happiness is sleeping in peace, success is finding a life partner and happiness is keeping your partner for life, success is keeping the knowledge you develop to yourself and happiness is sharing your expertise freely, success is striving for more and happiness is being content with what you have, and success is living a driven life and happiness is living a life fueled by passion. In Megan's article The Difference Between Success and Happiness on the Pop Expert website, she states that, "Money is never a guarantee of happiness". Then goes on to say that some of the most miserable people on our planet are also the richest.

I do believe there is a difference in happiness and success. You can be happy and successful, you can be not happy and not successful, you can be happy and not successful or you can not be happy and be successful. There were a bunch of quotes in Megan's article that was mentioned above but two really caught my eye. One quote was by Frederick Keonig that said "We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have." This quote caught my eye because many people don't recognize what they have in front of them because they are too caught up in with what they want to have and what they want their life to be and look like, rather than seeing and knowing what they have. The second quote that caught my eye was from Albert Schweitzer said "Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." I think that everyone should live by this quote. It really does make you put a perspective on life and how to view yours. I think that happiness depends a little bit on success but success doesn't always have to depend on happiness. I guess it just depends on how you think your life should be lived by.
